Bear (that's Randy) certainly made an impression in a very short period of time. After the festival ended there turned out to be a large number of the crew heading back to California. There also turned out to be a festival or big event planned for California. The Texas promoter hooks Bear up with the California promoter and somehow Bear ends up with an old school bus to drive the crew west. Something I stated earlier bears (sorry) repeating, twenty year old Randy "Bear" Minter had been schlepping snow cones from a converted three-wheel mail cart just 14 days prior to being put in charge of a crew, given a bus, and given the responsibility to organize a pop festival 1300 miles away in California. The boy had never been around the music scene much less any kind of drug culture and he just took them both by storm. I had been around the guy for two years and had never seen that kind of potential in him until I saw his eyes light up when we drove up to the festival site that first day. It was a true transformation. It changed his life like it did mine but I don't know if it was for the better or the worse. We worked on two more festival together after that and then we lost track of each other as our lives moved in different directions. Fifty Bucks
